History — Pensacola Beach has it! Ft. Pickens National Park is the landing site of the original Spaniards that built America’s 1st European Settlement–Pensacola. Today, the fort still has military bunkers and armament dating to the 1800s protection of Pensacola Bay. The fort served as a prison where Apache Chief Geronimo was a prisoner.
